Zane Grey (1872-1939) was a baseball talent, dentist adventurer, fisherman and a very prolific and popular writer. Grey was the author of more than 90 books, most of them westerns that gained huge popularity. He became one of the first millionaire writers, with more than 40 million in book sales. Many of his western books were adapted into films.
Grey also loved fishing, and found it helped inspire his writing. For a time, he reportedly fished 300 days a year, with a special passion for saltwater fishing and exploring little-known places. He wrote several fishing books based on his adventures.
